This tour is ideal for travelers with limited time who want to explore northern Tanzania. Lake Manyara National Park, situated beneath the cliffs of the Manyara Escarpment on the edge of the Rift Valley, offers stunning views and remarkable birdlife. The alkaline waters of Lake Manyara are home to a diverse array of bird species that thrive in its brackish environment. The Ngorongoro Crater, renowned for its wildlife, is the premier destination where you are almost guaranteed to see the Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo.
On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK) which caters to domestic flights, you will be met by our representative who will drive you to your accommodation in Arusha.Â
Breakfast will be served at the lodge before you drive west of Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park, with its stunning views of the Great Rift Valley wall. Your journey begins with the chance to spot large troupes of baboons. Lake Manyara is renowned for its tree-climbing lions and the alkaline soda lake, which supports an impressive array of birdlife. Pink flamingos can be seen grazing in their thousands along the grey mineral-rich lakeshore, while yellow-billed storks swoop and corkscrew on the thermal winds rising from the escarpment, and herons flap against the sunlit sky. Even those not particularly interested in birdwatching will find something to marvel at. Hippos are also commonly spotted. A packed lunch will be served at a scenic picnic site. In the late afternoon, you will continue with a short drive to the Ngorongoro Highlands for dinner and an overnight stay.
You’ll start the day with an early breakfast at the lodge before heading directly to the Ngorongoro Crater floor for a game drive. Lunch will be served at the hippo pool picnic site. The crater’s floor is dotted with watering holes that support nearly 30,000 animals within the natural enclosure formed by the volcano's slopes. As the largest unbroken caldera in the world, Ngorongoro features steep walls rising 610 meters from the floor and covers an area of 259 square kilometers. Often described as one of the Eighth Wonders of the Natural World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is a true wildlife sanctuary. After an extensive game drive, you'll return to Arusha, marking the end of your remarkable safari experience.
