Itinerary

On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK) which caters to domestic flights, you will be met by our representative who will drive you to your accommodation in Arusha.

  • Overnight: Arusha Planet Lodge or similar
  • Meals: Dinner included

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before setting out west from Arusha towards Lake Manyara National Park, with stunning views of the Great Rift Valley wall along the way. Your first wildlife encounter may be large troupes of baboons. Lake Manyara is renowned for its tree-climbing lions and the alkaline soda lake, which supports an incredible array of birdlife. Thousands of pink flamingos graze along the lake's shores, creating a vibrant contrast against the grey minerals. Yellow-billed storks glide on thermal winds rising from the escarpment, while herons soar against the sunlit sky. Even those with a casual interest in bird-watching will be captivated by the park's avian diversity. Hippos can also be spotted in the park. Enjoy a packed lunch at a scenic picnic site before continuing with a short drive to the Ngorongoro Highlands in the late afternoon.

  • Overnight: Eileen's Trees Inn or similar
  • Meals: All meals included

After an early breakfast, we'll depart for the Ngorongoro Crater. Upon arrival, the Crater reveals itself as a mesmerizing, almost forgotten world. Hidden by steep volcanic walls, it hosts a pristine wilderness of sweeping savannahs, acacia woodlands, and shimmering lakes and swamps. Formed from a massive volcanic explosion and subsequent collapse two to three million years ago, Ngorongoro is celebrated for its geological wonders and as a sanctuary with some of Africa’s densest populations of large mammals. The drive down into the Crater is an adventure, leading you to a floor teeming with wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, and over 500 bird species. The Crater offers one of the best chances to spot the endangered black rhino, often seen grazing in the open grasslands. After a satisfying lunch, we’ll continue our journey to Serengeti National Park for a two-night stay.

  • Overnight: Embalakai Serengeti Camp or similar
  • Meals: All meals included

After an early breakfast, we’ll embark on an en-route game drive through the Serengeti as we head towards Karatu. Serengeti National Park is renowned as the world’s most famous wildlife sanctuary, celebrated for its unparalleled natural beauty and significant scientific value. The park boasts the highest concentration of plains game in Africa. Its fame is largely attributed to the Great Migration, where over a million wildebeests and around 200,000 zebras migrate south from the northern hills to the southern plains during the short rains of October and November. They then move west and north following the long rains in April, May, and June. In the late afternoon, we’ll drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area directly to Karatu.

  • Overnight: Eileen's Trees Inn or similar
  • Meals: All meals included

After breakfast, we’ll set off for Tarangire National Park, named after the Tarangire River that flows through it. Known as the ‘river of warthogs,’ this river is the vital water source for wildlife in the region during the dry season. The park features a diverse range of landscapes, including dense vegetation, elephant grass, acacia woodlands, and lush groundwater forests. Tarangire is renowned for its large elephant herds, which frequently gather by the river. You may also encounter giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests, often accompanied by predators like lions and leopards. The park is notable for having more breeding species of birds than anywhere else in the world and boasts Tanzania's largest elephant population. It’s an excellent place to observe these majestic animals, from playful calves to impressive bulls. After lunch, we’ll return to Arusha.

  • Meals: Breakfast and Lunch included
