Itinerary

On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK) which caters to domestic flights, you will be met by our representative who will drive you to your accommodation in Arusha.

  • Overnight: Arusha Planet Lodge or similar
  • Meals: Dinner included

Early in the morning, after breakfast, we set off for Tarangire National Park. Named after the Tarangire River, which winds its way through the park, this "river of warthogs" becomes the main water source for wildlife during the dry season. The park’s landscape features dense vegetation, including elephant grass and acacia woodlands. Tarangire is famous for its large elephant families, often seen gathering near the river. You may also encounter giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests, along with predators like lions and leopards that closely follow their prey. With more bird breeding species than any other location on Earth, Tarangire is a birdwatcher’s paradise. As home to Tanzania's largest elephant population, the park offers unparalleled opportunities to observe these majestic creatures, from playful calves to towering bulls, in their natural environment. After enjoying a packed lunch, we proceed to our accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.

  • Overnight: Eileen's Tree Inn or similar
  • Meals: All meals included

Early in the morning, after breakfast, we set off for Ngorongoro Crater. Upon first sight, Ngorongoro Crater appears like a world lost in time. This unique landscape offers a rare opportunity to spot the endangered black rhino and observe large prides of lions. The crater was formed when a massive volcano erupted and collapsed in on itself two to three million years ago. Today, it is renowned not only for its striking geological features, but also as a natural reserve that harbors one of the densest populations of large mammals in Africa. The descent into the crater is an adventure in itself, and as you reach the crater floor, you'll find yourself surrounded by vast herds of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, and over 500 species of birds. The open grasslands provide the best chance to spot the elusive black rhino. After enjoying a packed lunch, we continue our journey to Serengeti National Park.

  • Overnight: Embalakai Camp or similar
  • Meals: All meals included

We will start the day with an early breakfast and embark on our game drive at around 6:30 am, giving us 6 to 7 hours to explore the remarkable Serengeti. This vast park is home to a diverse array of wildlife, including impala, buffalo, crocodile, and hippo. However, it is most famous for the incredible migrating herds—about 250,000 zebras, 1.5 million wildebeest, and 500,000 antelopes—that traverse the plains in search of fresh grazing grounds. Their movements are dictated by the rains and can vary each year. In addition to these great herds, we may also encounter predators like leopards, cheetahs, and lions, who follow the migration for their next meal. Around 2:00 pm, we'll begin our drive back to Karatu, where we'll arrive at our carefully selected mid-range lodge. Here, you can enjoy dinner in a well-appointed restaurant, relax by the pool, or unwind with a drink by the fire under the vast African sky. Your spacious quarters will be waiting to provide a restful night, perhaps filled with dreams of wild cats.

  • Overnight: Eileen's Tree Inn or similar
  • Meals: All meals included

Enjoy breakfast in the morning before taking a short drive to Lake Manyara National Park for a day of game viewing. Your first encounter will likely be with the large troupes of baboons that inhabit the area. Lake Manyara National Park, located between Lake Manyara and the Great Rift Valley in Tanzania's Arusha and Manyara Regions, is known for its stunningly diverse terrain, rich plant life, and abundant wildlife. The park was established primarily to protect its renowned elephant herds, offering visitors an unforgettable wildlife experience. Besides elephants, Lake Manyara is also famous for its occasionally sighted tree-climbing lions and the flamingos that thrive in its shallow, alkaline waters. You’ll enjoy a packed lunch at a scenic picnic site. After lunch, you’ll drive back to Arusha in time for your scheduled flight to Zanzibar. Upon arrival at the airport, you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel in Stone Town for dinner and an overnight stay.

  • Overnight: Maru Maru Hotel or similar
  • Meals: Breakfast and Lunch included

After breakfast, you'll head straight to the city of Stone Town before continuing to the northern coast of Zanzibar, to the idyllic area known as Nungwi. Nungwi is famed for its white coral sand that seems to glow even after nightfall, creating a serene and almost magical atmosphere. Despite its lively atmosphere, Nungwi can still feel wonderfully secluded. Its expansive coastline is perfect for swimming and snorkeling in some of Africa’s most pristine, reef-rich waters. Unlike many other beaches on the island, Nungwi’s shores are relatively unaffected by the drastic changes of high and low tides, making it ideal for water activities throughout the day. Deep-sea fishing near Nungwi is exceptional, offering chances to catch kingfish, dorado, yellowfin tuna, and the impressive striped marlin from the Indian Ocean. The area also offers a wide range of activities, including walking tours, sunset cruises, diving excursions, and parasailing. Simply watching traditional dhow boats drifting on the sea at sunset is enough to capture the enchanting spirit of this African beach paradise. You'll spend two nights in Nungwi, soaking in the beauty and tranquillity of this remarkable destination.

  • Overnight: Nungwi Dreams by Mantis or similar
  • Meals: Bed & Breakfast Basis

After breakfast and some relaxation at your hotel in Zanzibar, and depending on your flight or ferry schedule, you will be transferred directly to the airport or ferry terminal. This marks the end of your epic adventure.

  • Meals: Breakfast included
